Last Tuesday, thousands tuned in to Apple’s 2018 iPhone keynote for exciting news. The tech powerhouse unveiled three new iPhone models at their highly anticipated event: the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and iPhone Xr. We knew the screens would be bigger. We knew the cameras would be better. But who know we would have so many sizes and colors to choose from! Here’s What You Missed from Apple’s Big Event.
iPhone Xs and Xs Max
The iPhone Xs is “by far the most advanced iPhone we have ever created,” according to Apple CEO, Tim Cook. This new 5.8 inch model will take the place of the iPhone X released in 2017. Not a fan of this size? No worries! Xs Max is identical to the Xs, but totes a 6.5 inch screen size for those in love with their Plus. Here are the highlights for Apple’s new flagship models:
- Edge-to-edge “Super Retina” OLED Screens
- The front and back feature the most durable glass ever in a smartphone
- Supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 (Perfect for binge watching Netflix!)
- Goodbye Touch ID. Hello Face ID!
- Longer Battery Life
- A12 Bionic Processor for Speedy Performance
If that doesn’t get you excited, this will! Apple is ushering in a new era of smartphone photography with these new models. Smart HDR enhances your photos and videos by increasing the highlight and shadow details. Even better is the introduction of Bokeh and Depth Control, allowing you to adjust the depth of field after you take a photo for stunning portraits. You can use take advantage of this feature with selfies as well, using Apple’s new True Depth camera.
So what about the third model? We’re glad you asked! The Xr shares pretty much of the same features, however, there are two key differences. First, the Xr model features a 6.1 inch LCD screen. So it’s not as sharp as the Xs models, but still provides a crisp display nonetheless. Secondly, the new iPhone Xr only has a single 12MP sensor, whereas the other two models have a 12MP wide-angle and telephoto sensor. Two minor differences, that lower the price tag dramatically compared to the Xs and Xs max.
But wait — it gets better. Not only is this model more affordable, but it comes in six different colors including:
How awesome is that!
